Android Oreo Features
-
Battery Life
Our demand for a phone’s battery life only keeps increasing as we never seem to be satisfied. The all new Android Oreo has the capability to limit the number of processes an application running in the background can perform. So obviously, your battery power will stay longer than usual once you’ve upgraded.
2. Notification Channels
We are aware of notifications, yes. But what is a notification channel? In Oreo, you get a full control over the notifications where you can set the way a notification alerts you on your device. Each channel can be used for a different alert type.
3. Notifications Dots
What dots?! Tiny dots now appear on top of you app icons to indicate pending notifications to let you control them a lot easier. Long press on the dot will open up a menu where you can perform several actions. You can turn on/off this dot feature. But why would you when it’s really cool?!
4. Picture In Picture
This new feature in Oreo takes multitasking to a whole new level. You know sometimes when you’re watching a video, suddenly you remember you need to text someone so you have to come out of the video which is super annoying? Well, it doesn’t have to be that way anymore. With the picture in picture feature, the video you’re watching will be minimized to a tiny window and you can text your friend while not missing a single scene! When you’re watching a video or video chatting with someone, just tap the home button and you’re all set.
5. OK, Google
Our all time favorite Google Assistant seems to have had her upgrades as well. You can use your Google Assistant to help you when you’re inside an application. So, now your assistant is with you all the time, anywhere and everywhere!
6. Wi-Fi
Now, you don’t have to worry about turning your Wi-fi on/off every time you leave or return home because Android Oreo can do it for you! Wi-Fi devices can also talk to each other over an ad hoc local network.
7. All New Autofill
It’s okay to feel lazy when you have to type in your personal information when you need to fill up many online forms and forgetting passwords are the worst of them all. With Oreo’s autofill feature, fear no more! Using the information stored in your Google Account, Google will fill up the form for you.
8. Out Of Storage Space? Not A Problem
Even if you’re running out of storage space, you can still update your phone! The updates will stream from Google’s servers to your phone/tablet. All you need is a minimum of 100kb of space.

9. Storage Managment
One thing I can never do is properly manage my phone’s storage space. Thankfully, Android Oreo provides the solution to my problem. The “Free Up Space” option in Settings clear your downloads folder and also uninstall apps you haven’t used in a while.
10. Smart Text Selection
With this feature, Android Oreo knows when you have to select the entire text like when you have to copy and paste an entire address.
