OnePlus revealed its another flagship killer smartphone, the OnePlus 5T a few weeks back and this time they did also mock Apple a little bit. Over the last few years, OnePlus has become the favorite brand of mobile users for its sleek design, smooth experience, and killer performance. With its aggressiveness and commitment to deliver flagship like devices, OnePlus has slain its competitors in the upper midrange section. And the OnePlus 5T is no exception. The OnePlus 5T is literally an upgrade of the OnePlus 5T. Like Apple follows its “S” lineup, OnePlus also kept that trend by revealing their “T” lineup like they did in OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 5T. Though some OnePlus customers are unhappy with the company’s decision to release the OnePlus 5T just  4 months after the Launch of OnePlus 5, it seems that OnePlus is determined to take on the battle to its other counterparts. So folks lets jump on to the review section.

Design And Display

oneplus 5 T Display

Though the OnePlus 5 and 5T are same in almost all aspects, it’s the display that makes OnePlus 5T special. OnePlus followed the recent trend of a bezel-less screen in the OnePlus 5T. The OnePlus 5T features a 6.02 inches bezel-less screen with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The screen is a FullHD one with a resolution of 1080×2160 pixels and uses AMOLED technology. There is no more jelly like feeling in the display. Everything looks sharp, bright, and saturated. There are still black borders around it – thinner at the sides than at the top and bottom – but the effect is still immersive. Videos and games are especially engaging. Sure, OnePlus did a great job here and made their device look more modern. The OnePlus 5T is made of aluminum, and the company is quick to point out subtle design cues such as the sharp crease around the edges of an otherwise curved body. Unlike its predecessors, this model is available only in Midnight Black. The display features Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

When it comes to performance, none can beat OnePlus and they proved it again that OnePlus is the “Lord of Performance and Power” in their OnePlus 5T. The OnePlus 5T comes in two variants, a 6GB RAM 64 GB ROM and another 8 GB RAM 128 GB ROM. The higher RAM available in OnePlus is the main reason why users get such a great performance and smooth experience. The OnePlus 5T  like its predecessor, the OnePlus 5, comes with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, the best processor available in the market now. The GPU is of Adreno 540. The device runs on the Android 7.1.1 Nougat in the form of Oxygen OS. Oxygen OS is one of the trademark features of OnePlus and it delivers the almost stock-like experience.

Face Unlock

The OnePlus 5T features the face unlock system and it has put Apple in shame. Although it is a 2D  system, but it provides the basic securities and cannot be fooled easily. The OnePlus 5T takes 0.04 seconds to unlock the screen using face recognition and it’s a way more faster than the iPhone X. Simply, you just have to see the phone and it will be unlocked before you even realize it. It works most of the time even in low lighting conditions. But OnePlus also kept its fingerprint scanner and shifted it to the back of the handset. Overall OnePlus did a good job here.

Like the OnePlus 5, the OnePlus 5T comes packed with a non-removable 3300 mAh battery and supports dash charging. Though the battery seems to be small, OnePlus did a fantastic job in optimizing the device. The OnePlus 5T give a screen time of 6 hours on an average with is nearly 30 minutes more the OnePlus 5T. This is maybe because of the use of new screen type. And dash charging will easily provide you one day’s full charge in just 15 minutes.

The OnePlus 5T features dual camera phase detection autofocus, dual-LED flash. It comes with a dual rear camera one of 16-megapixel primary, with an aperture of f/1.7. Another one is a telephoto lens of 20 megapixels with an aperture of f/1.7 megapixel. The OnePlus maintained its camera quality and the camera still features 2x optical zoom. The photos are pretty colorful, real without any artificial touch. They also click great pictures in low light conditions. The OnePlus still lacks OIS but OnePlus somehow managed to overcome It by using EIS. The other features are Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama. The video quality of the OnePlus 5T is also quiet good , it can record 2160p@30fps, 1080p@30/60fps, 720p@30/120fps. The device also features a front shooter of 16 megapixels.

The OnePlus supports all the major 2g, 3g, and 4g bands. It comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, WiFi Direct, DLNA, hotspot and Bluetooth v5.0. The OnePlus 5T also has NFC support. The OnePlus 5T comes with a USB Type C port which helps in dash charging and yeah it has your favorite 3.5 mm headphone jack.

The OnePlus is the most promising and best smartphone in the 40000 price bracket. You can go blindly for it, if you are not a OnePlus 5 user. For OnePlus 5 users, I will recommend you to wait for the OnePlus 6. In the real world, The OnePlus 5T is the only smartphone that can compete and challenge the iPhone X.
