Today we find a new TV-Box in the market called Tanix TX3 mini, a Low Cost computer that surprises us to include a new SoC from Amlogic called S905W and which comes standard as SO Android 7.1. The new SoC S905W is the cheapest chip from Amlogic that aims to compete in price with other low-end SoC like the RK3329, basically the S905W is a trimmed version of the S905X in which it changes the video output resolution that reaches maximum 4K At 30fps, enough resolution for many users as not everyone has a TV or 4K monitor.
The TX3 mini being a budget TV box comes with some basic set of hardware. it runs on the Amlogic S905W CPU, running up to 1.2 GHz. This CPU is an older model even to the S905X that runs up to 1.5 GHz. The GPU is the ARM Mali 450 MP GPU, and the MP with no number indicates that it is a single core model, not the 5 core model. It comes with 2GB of DDR3 RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. It comes with single-band 2.4GHz WiFi, and it does not have Bluetooth support. This does not mean that wireless Bluetooth controller like air mouse and game-pads will not work. These devices will work as the receiver and the device generates their own wireless signals.
The Tanix TX3 mini runs on a rooted version of Android 7.1 Nougat operating system. Its interface has a very simple design with large buttons and the option then add shortcuts to the launcher. The Launcher comes with a status bar at the top, and a navigation bar at the bottom for easy navigation. The box comes with its normal set of core system apps and additional apps like Google play store, Miracast, and Kodi.
OK so I’ll start off by saying that the Tanix TX3 mini was built as a low budget Android 7.1 TV box mainly for streaming movies and TV shows. Lots of people would like to start on a low cost TV box to see if they like the world of streaming. If you are looking for high benchmarks and fast graphics performance this is NOT the box for you. If you only want to stream movies then this box might be a good option.
